An important sector in Aveyron

The first one with its number of establishments and the second one with its number of employees, the sector of construction is a pillar of economy of Aveyron. Construction in Aveyron covers a lot of activities : extraction, materials production, building and public works. An important number of artisanal companies constitutes the sector of construction in Aveyron and there are more than 10 leading companies which employ from 40 to 300 persons (company Sévigné).

The activity of building, mainly constituted of artisanal companies, concentrates 60% of turnover and of employees of the sector.

Since many years, the realization of large building sites have profited to the activity of public works : the construction of Millau viaduct, construction of the Rodez Hospital, A75 motorway, RN 88 road, RD 840 road …). And the Department wants to keep a high level of investment for its roads.

In Midi-Pyrénées, the volume of building activity have growed (+ 3% in 2005)(and +7% in valuation). It concerns all of the departments, including Aveyron. The maintenance to 5,5% of the rate of VTA until 2010 would carry on instigating the sector.

Several CTE : technics of septic and thermics installations, technics of carcassing building, technics of architecture and habitat, technics of coolness and of air conditionning, light work painting/glazing/covering…

One the highest success rates in France, notably in technical and technological options.

SECONDARY SCHOOL VOCATIONAL DIPLOMAS: construction carcassing building, building/metal/aluminium/glass/composite materials , electrotechnics/energy/ communicating equipment, energetics option installation and implementation of energetic and climatic systems.

HIGHER EDUCATION
An assortment of degrees (level Baccalaureate +2 years up to + 5 years) offered by the Jean-François Champollion university, IUT, colleges, Centre Consulaire de Formation :
- BTS : constructive systems wood and habitat.
- BTMS related to stone work : Brevet Technique de Métier Supérieur in stone masonry, ensured by the Institute for Research and Training in Metiers Related to Stone (Maison des Compagnons).

Created in Rodez at the instigation of the Compagnons du Devoir, the institute is a centre for all the metiers related to stone, offering its expertise to businesses and people (architects, engineers, designers, students) working with the material.
